Cadens is a pioneer in the field of micro- to small-hydropower, particularly in the development of environmentally compatible technologies to turbine and facility design. Cadens has developed a low-head hydropower research facility in southeast WI to test and develop small capacity, low-head turbine systems. We are applying CAD-driven, additive manufacturing and modern power electronics to create innovative hydropower technologies that will significantly reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) for hydropower and sustain environmental functions.
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy accelerates development and deployment of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and market-based solutions that strengthen U.S. energy security, environmental quality, and economic vitality. For more information on water power research, development, testing, and deployment see the EERE Water Power Program’s website.
Innovation Crossroads is a new program based at ORNL that matches aspiring energy entrepreneurs with the experts, mentors, and networks in technology-related fields to take their world-changing ideas from R&D to the marketplace. Unfortunately, our idea of low-cost, environmentally compatible hydropower did not advance into the finals. An amazing experience with steep competition presenting innovative clean […]
Request for Information: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development of Hydropower in Undeveloped Stream Reaches of the United States. The purpose of this RFI is to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on issues related to development of hydropower in new stream-reaches.
